darkness-visible: Kabul: November 2001
Isaac Levi locks the front door of the synagogue on Flower Street. Along with Zavolan Simantov, they are the last Jews of Kabul. Both are tenants in the building and have maintained a feud for years, refusing to speak to one another. They stayed here throughout the reign of the Taliban, at times informing on each other and as a result being imprisoned at different times.
